Position Overview
This position is offered to a talented and highly motivated individual who specializes in Structural Design. Must be a synergistic team player and an invaluable resource for Equagen and clients. We aspire to provide a challenging and inspiring work environment for such a candidate in a position that will require detailed, project-specific designs. The purpose of this role is to Lead the design and analysis of structural components in high-voltage and medium voltage substations.
Location
Remote or Hybrid or On-site (Raleigh, NC)
- Substation Structural Design: Lead the design and analysis of structural components in high-voltage and medium voltage substations, including foundations, support structures, bus structures, and control buildings.
- Code Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to national and international building codes, electrical industry standards, and safety regulations relevant to high-voltage substations.
- Engineering Calculations: Perform detailed engineering calculations, such as load analysis, seismic analysis, wind loading, and foundation design, to ensure the structural integrity of substation components.
- Design Optimization: Continuously seek opportunities to optimize substation designs, considering cost-effectiveness, constructability, and long-term performance.
- Project Management: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate projects, ensuring timely delivery, and providing technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
- Technical Support: Offer technical expertise and guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders on structural matters related to high-voltage substations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in structural engineering, with a focus on high-voltage substations.
- Proficient in structural analysis software, such as ETABS, L-Pile, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, etc.
- Solid understanding of national and international building codes and industry standards related to substations (e.g., IEEE, IEC, ASCE, NESC).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven project management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
