Most difficult decision you’ve made in the last two years? Job Interview Question and Answer!

What’s the most difficult decision you’ve made in the last two years and how did you come to that decision?

This is a common job inteview question that is often asked by the recruiters to assess the candidates and learn about their experiences related to but not limited to work life balance,  past struggles, work challenges,  life outside work and personal career goals and aspirations. Here is an example answer:

The most difficult decision I had to make in the last two years was whether to leave my current job and pursue a new opportunity in a different industry. I had been with my current company for five years and had built strong relationships with my colleagues and developed a deep understanding of the industry. However, the new opportunity offered a chance for me to grow professionally and expand my skills in a way that was not possible in my current role.

To make this decision, I took a step back and assessed my goals, values, and priorities. I asked myself what I wanted to achieve in the long-term, what was most important to me, and what would make me happy. I then evaluated both my current job and the new opportunity based on these factors, and weighed the pros and cons of each.

I also spoke with colleagues, mentors, and family members to gain different perspectives and insights. I asked them for their honest opinions and listened to their experiences and advice. Through these conversations, I was able to gain a better understanding of what was truly important to me and what would be best for my career and personal growth.

Ultimately, I decided to pursue the new opportunity. The chance to expand my skills and grow professionally was too good to pass up, and I felt confident that I had made the right decision. The transition was not easy, as I had to leave behind many close relationships, but I have since grown and flourished in my new role, and I am grateful for the difficult decision I made.

Making this decision took a lot of self-reflection and careful consideration, but I am proud of myself for taking control of my future and making a choice that was best for my career and overall well-being.
