Job Role: Swimming Instructor
Job Description:
A swimming instructor is responsible for teaching individuals of all ages how to swim and improve their swimming skills. They may work in a variety of settings, including swimming schools, community centers, and private clubs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans for swimming instruction
- Teach individuals of all ages and skill levels how to swim
- Assess students’ swimming abilities and provide feedback and guidance for improvement
- Ensure the safety of all students during class
- Communicate with parents and guardians about students’ progress
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and progress
- Attend meetings and trainings as required
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must have current CPR and first aid certifications
- Must have current certification as a swimming instructor (e.g. American Red Cross, YMCA, etc.)
- Must have strong communication and teaching skills
- Must be able to work well with individuals of all ages and skill levels
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education or related field (preferred)
- Experience teaching swimming or working as a lifeguard (preferred)
- Strong understanding of swimming techniques and safety protocols
